Audition Information...
Auditions are used for placement only.
Every student who auditions is guaranteed a spot at FLING.
Why we audition...
At FLING, we use auditions to make sure every student is placed in the experience that will help them grow the most.

We are not looking for perfection...we are looking for information.

The audition helps us understand a student’s current level so we can group them with the right teachers, music, and peers.

Keep in mind, FLING is only 4 days, so we want to make sure each student feels capable of learning their music within that time frame.

Other Performance Opportunities

Masterclass
Open to everyone
Auditions due May 4, 2026
A masterclass is a live performance and coaching session where a student plays for a guest artist and receives real-time feedback, tips, and musical insight.
Other students observe, learning from both the performer and the instructor. Masterclasses are a powerful way to build confidence, gain new perspectives, and deepen musical understanding.

If you'd like to audition for the masterclass, we'll listen to your FLING audition recordings for selection. There's a place on the audition form where you can indicate if you'd like to be considered.

This year's masterclass will be with Ebonee Thomas.

4-5 students of varying ages and abilities will be selected.
Showcase Recital
Open to everyone
Auditions due May 4, 2026
The Showcase Recital is a relaxed, low-pressure performance opportunity for selected students to share a piece they prepared in advance of FLING. Invitations to perform are based on audition recordings, so students who are selected will come to camp with their piece already learned and ready to go.

Rather than a formal concert, the Showcase Recital feels more like a celebration of learning. Between performances, we play fun trivia games based on concepts and ideas explored during the week, with prizes for students who answer the most questions correctly.
It’s a fun, supportive way to build confidence, reinforce learning, and enjoy making music together.

Students may submit solos or duets with friends that are learned before camp.

Please know...
We know auditions can feel intimidating. Our goal is not to label students...it’s to place them where they will feel supported, challenged, and successful.
If a student is not selected for neXt or X, they are still fully accepted into FLING and will have an excellent camp experience.
